A place we once called home

A Town called  Rabaul - We once  called Home

In Our Hearts we still call Rabaul Home. The Time! Oh so long ago, we are the children of  Old New Guinea. We are the sons & daughters of the expatriate, the ex kiap's the policeman the government workers, and everyone else who lived in Rabaul in the 50’ & 60s.. The Past years have not been kind to Nova Britain. The Land of the Toli, the beauty the wonderful harbour the lifestyle situated in a Calder

                                                       The Township of Rabaul 1960
We found the old  Japanese wrecked planes, the guns and so much war material in the bush we explored the caves and swan at the Submarine Base, We sold brass to Arthur Brown the scrap metal dealer for 2/6 a lb, we enjoyed the free and easy lifestyle

Simpson Harbour Rabaul 1960 the caldera

We were all the kids of Rabaul, the Toli kids the Chinese kids us kids and all the rest of the kids, we ran free.
Well now the best part of the Town is gone and we have all grown, some have even passed away .
Rabaul, as it was we will remember, our friends who have moved on are always in our hearts and minds,
