A place we once called home

A Town called  Rabaul - We once  called Home

In Our Hearts we still call Rabaul Home. The Time! Oh so long ago, we are the children of  Old New Guinea. We are the sons & daughters of the expatriate, the ex kiap's the policeman the government workers, and everyone else who lived in Rabaul in the 50’ & 60s.. The Past years have not been kind to Nova Britain. The Land of the Toli, the beauty the wonderful harbour the lifestyle situated in a Calder

                                                       The Township of Rabaul 1960
We found the old  Japanese wrecked planes, the guns and so much war material in the bush we explored the caves and swan at the Submarine Base, We sold brass to Arthur Brown the scrap metal dealer for 2/6 a lb, we enjoyed the free and easy lifestyle

Simpson Harbour Rabaul 1960 the caldera

We were all the kids of Rabaul, the Toli kids the Chinese kids us kids and all the rest of the kids, we ran free.
Well now the best part of the Town is gone and we have all grown, some have even passed away .
Rabaul, as it was we will remember, our friends who have moved on are always in our hearts and minds,

  1. NEW FLOOD LEVY PLAN,

“The tax will be imposed on household bills such as electricity or water
and the government hopes to raise $1 billion over four to five years.”

Where has all the money gone!!!!! For years the State government has
taken us to the cleaners. Our hospitals have deteriorated, our roads are stuffed
the public transport prices are the highest in the world, our infrastructure is
non-existent, and the price of fuels ! Let’s not go there just yet.
Council, water and electricity cost has risen quarterly and are still going up,
now this little can do Premier wants to put his grubby little hands into our pockets
and take more money(all you will find in my pockets is pocket fluff you are most welcome to that). Now if any of these so called State politicians had any type of foresight beyond their four year term, future infrastructure would have been put in place.
There seems to be a small minded mentality of past and present governments in Queensland very little gets done, always a lot of talk and fancy glossary self-promotion, pay rises in accordance with parliamentary guidelines (well one is not going to vote against a well-deserved pay raise).
What is the old saying all piss and wind?
What they should be doing after all the miss spending and incompetence of the State Government’s mismanagement by people we voted to the position of trust.
    Get back to the basics.
Stop spending money on projects not needed.
    Improve infrastructure for the future.
Look beyond your noses think ahead.
Have a plan not a two week before the election plan, you vote for me and I will!!!.
Try and survives on what exorbitant wages you all receive now. Omit future increases for a bit, at least till the state sets back on track. (With you lot that may be never.)
Stop giving us excuses of how much work you all do you have staffs that do the work.
Stop acting like you are all famous people, you are not movie stars you are only people employed by us whom you all ignore once you have achieved your little bit of space.
Take the blame for what you do stop keep passing the buck
Stop blaming past other political party’s for their incompetence for you are leading the down the same path stop the procrastination & get on with the job —
